I'm getting ancy for rod season again and was wondering if anyone knows when a hot time for silver bass is.  I remember catching some off the dock in North Bay while fishing walleye, I think maybe early June but am looking for any input on the whens and where's for them.  They interest me because I do lots of winter crappie fishing and want to see how they compare.

You can slam the silvers in the Sturgeon River during the first 2 weeks of the season.

I managed to hook a few off shore at the Lavase River launch! The water level there this year is pretty high so the bass love to hang out in the overhang on a hot sunny day. Good luck !

Thanks for the info Nipfisher.  Where on the river, anywhere up to the dam?

You can walk down below the dam and fish them from shore where the narrower rapids open into a pool. You will also boats anchored where the narrows under the highway bridge opens up on the south side. The silvers come in thick and heavy and I would say the average fish based on what I caught there in the past is about 2 pounds. I have had 30+ fish eveinings. Great fun on a light action rod!
